P.E.E.

(San Francisco, CA) P.E.E. (occasionally short for Potentially Egregious Error, sometimes just Pee) formed in San Francisco in 1993 when guitarists/vocalists Jim Stanley and Kelly Green recruited drummer Andee Connors, then active in J Church and A Minor Forest, and eventually bassist Tiber Scheer, who would later play in Lowercase. They became fixtures of the Bay Area DIY scene, sharing stages with Boys Life, Jimmy Eat World, Drive Like Jehu, Three Mile Pilot, Heavy Vegetable, Jawbreaker, and Track Star. They also opened for Cheap Trick, Modest Mouse and Neutral Milk Hotel, to name a few. They were Noise Pop regulars.

Their 1996 debut, “Now, More Charm and More Tender,” came out on March Records to favorable reviews. This was followed in 1998 by their more complex and layered second album, “The Roaring Mechanism,” which was originally released on Absolutely Kosher Records.

P.E.E.’s songs are fast, hook-laden, and strange: grind pop with genuine melodic instincts, several clocking in under 90 seconds. The best way to describe them is to imagine all your favorite bridges from all your favorite songs, strung together one after another, each one more unexpected than the last. Every track has a million different parts, and somehow it all holds. The band completed three US tours before going on hiatus in 1999 as members moved on to other projects. 

For most of the next two decades they were largely forgotten. Then, in 2023, YouTuber 108 Mics released a mini-documentary called "A Band Called Pee," which included a full band interview. That video, combined with growing attention on Rate Your Music (where “Now, More Charm…” now ranks as the sixth-highest rated math pop release on the site), brought a new generation to the record. Original pressings started selling on Discogs for up to $325.

In August 2025, the band released their full catalog digitally for the first time and announced their return. A 30th anniversary reissue of “Now, More Charm and More Tender” followed in February 2026, remastered with new artwork. The first pressing sold out immediately. Their reunion shows in spring and early summer, beginning with the 2026 Noise Pop Festival, have all sold out. A vinyl and cassette reissue of tracks from an early recording called, “i win me over.” was released in spring of 2026 on Deathbomb Arc.
